OLIA E. GREENE

Olia Wise Everett Greene, 97, of The Friendship House, a retirement home in Berlin, Md., and formerly of Suffolk, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997.

Mrs. Greene was born in the Reynoldson section of Gates County. The daughter of the late William J. and Mrs. Leslie Rawls Everet, she was the oldest member of Kittrell's United Methodist Church in Gates. A graduate of Elon College, she was a retired teacher, having taught in the Gates County, N.C., and Holland, Va., school systems. She was the wife of the late Mills Lewis Greene.

Surviving are a son, Everett L. Greene and his wife, Shirley of Glendale, Md.; a son-in-law, W. Ralph Duke Sr. of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Mary D. Byrum, William R. Duke Jr., Dianne D. Williams, Sandy Hiles and Scott Greene; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jason and Michelle Byrum, Mason and Janna Williams, Ginny and Justin Duke, Christopher and Hope Lim and Jacob and Jacqueline Hiles.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kittrell's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bill Altman and the Rev. Billy Presley. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. The family will assemble at the church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Kittrell's United Methodist Church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
