HELEN L. POWELL

Helen Louise Powell, 85, of the 200 block of Hogart St., died Oct. 16, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Powell, a homemaker, was born in Gates County, N.C., and was the widow of Tom Powell. She was a member of Pleasant Shade Baptist Church in Franklin and its Senior Choir and Missionary Circle.

Survivors include a daughter, Margie L. Harper of Shaker Heights, Ohio; three sons, Casple W. Turner of Panama City, Fla., Ernest F. Turner and Phillip Powell, both of Norfolk; grandchildren, Jeffrey C. Powell and Lisa Harper, both of North Potomac, Md.; a great-grandson, Phillip L. Harper of Shaker Heights; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Shade Baptist Church by the Rev. T.L. Parker. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at noon Wednesday. A wake will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
