ROBERT M. BEATTY

Robert Marshall Beatty, 54, of the 5100 block of Amberly Road, died Oct. 18, 1997, in Edenton, N.C.

He was born in Ishpeming, Mich., and was a self-employed contractor. He was the former co-owner of Chesapeake Steel Inc. for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Gail T. Beatty; two daughters, Robin Beatty of Norfolk and Cindy Jernigan of Georgia; two stepdaughters, Kelli Dunn of Virginia Beach and Sherri Shapiro of Norfolk; his mother, Ameila Bullis of Sarasota, Fla.; father, Lester Beatty Sr. of Indiana; four sisters, Sheila Kjellman and Paulette Vidlund, both of Ishpeming, Gloria Sparpani of Marquette, Mich., and Ruby Mensching of Georgia; two brothers, Gerald Beatty of Florida and Lester Beatty Jr. of Norfolk; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Little, Shawn Shapiro, Summer Shapiro and Daniel Dunn. He was predeceased by a son, James Robert ``Hank'' Beatty.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. James T. Wilkes Jr. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
