Carolyn Whyte Crawford, 73, has gone to be with the Lord on Oct. 19, 1997.
She was a native of Norfolk County (Cradock), the daughter of the late John Whyte and the late Carolyn C. Whyte and the wife of Clinton O. Crawford Sr.
Carolyn was a member of The Smithfield Church of the Nazarene and an honorary member of The Outer Banks Worship Center, Nags Head, N.C. She was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and blessed whomever she came in contact with in her life on earth. She deeply loved her family and found great joy in nurturing them all. She will be missed by many but there is comfort in knowing she now resides in Heaven. Her legacy resides in each heart she touched.
Survivors include a son, Richard Rardon of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; son Robert V. Rardon and his wife, Janell, and their three children, Candace, Brooke and Grant of Suffolk; a stepson, Clinton O. Crawford Jr. and his wife, Ruth Ann of Chesapeake; a stepdaughter, Janice Butler and her husband, Stephen, of Roswell, Ga.; three step-grandchildren, Gregory Crawford, Jennifer Hoyle and her husband, Marshall, of Portsmouth and Stephen R. Butler of Roswell, Ga.; a sister, Edyth Baker of Towson, Md.; and a half-brother, John Robert Whyte of Shreveport, La. She was predeceased by a stepson, Charles J. ``Speedy'' Crawford.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by the Rev. Rueggy Copen of The Smithfield Church of the Nazarene and the Rev. David Daniels of The Outer Banks Worship Center. Burial will be at the Olive Branch Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends are also welcome to visit the family at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rardon and Mr. Clinton O. Crawford Sr., 1484 Cedar Creek Lane, Suffolk.
