CRIME LINE

PORTSMOUTH

About midnight Sept. 25, two men entered the Uni-Mart in the 4100 block of George Washington Highway and announced a robbery.

One suspect stood near the door while the second went behind the counter and stole cigarettes. After filling about seven bags with assorted brands of cigarettes, the suspects tried to disconnect a video camera and remove its tape. They were unsuccessful.

The first suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, 190 pounds, wearing a blue ball cap with a white letter ``G'' and a blue and white jacket.

The second suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, 200 pounds, wearing black pants and a white T-shirt.

VIRGINIA BEACH

About 1 p.m. June 16, two juveniles walking on Regency Drive near Queen Catherine Court were approached by a man in a vehicle. He told them he was looking for his dog and drove off.

The man later approached the juveniles again, but this time the man attempted to entice them to a hidden place. The juveniles refused and quickly left the area.

The suspect was described as white in his early 30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with dirty blond hair. He was wearing a red T-shirt and denim cut-off shorts and was driving a red, 2-door medium-sized vehicle.

On Aug. 12 about midnight, Jacquelyn Pratscher was going home with her husband and child in their 1995 van.

They had just passed the YMCA, heading east on South Boulevard, when they saw vehicles pull up on both sides of their van. Someone in one of the vehicles fired a shot, striking Jacquelyn Pratscher in her right cheek.

The vehicles then fled. The Pratscher family went to the Plaza Fire Department, where she was taken to a hospital.

SUFFOLK

On Aug. 20, a lone gunman entered the G&L Market in the 6000 block of Whaleyville Blvd.

The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. He then jumped over a counter and went to the area where the clerks were working. The suspect took a small amount of cash, jumped over the counter and fled.

The suspect was described as a black male with a thin mustache, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 140 pounds and wearing a blue windbreaker-type jacket.

CHESAPEAKE

At 11:25 a.m. Oct. 14, a man entered the Bank of Tidewater branch in the 1300 block of Greenbrier Parkway.

He laid a bank bag on the counter with an attached note, stating, ``Robbery.'' He told the teller he was serious and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled. He fled in a late-model, dark blue Ford Explorer.

He was described as Hispanic, 28 to 35 years old, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 220 pounds. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt and pants. He had a gold earring and a goatee. ILLUSTRATION: Drawing
