DAVID KLEMT ARCHITECT AND CHAIR OF KIWANIS ART AUCTION

David Klemt lives in Norfolk, works at Laskin Road in Virginia Beach and meets with The Pembroke Kiwanis Club smack in the middle.

Klemt, who joined the service organization two and a half years ago, commutes to the Beach where his architectural firm, Klemt and Associates, P.C., designs correctional facilities, schools, office buildings and city offices.

Although he's been in the organization a short time, he has served on the board and participated in the group's charitable fund-raisers.

When the club needed a new fund-raiser, Klemt suggested a blind auction. Then he was asked to chair it.

Klemt said he had ``probably hemmed and hawed one time too many,'' so he took the idea and helped it evolve into the Charity Art Auction to be held Friday evening at the The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia in Virginia Beach.

The Heisman Gallery out of Baltimore, which collects art to sell at fund-raisers, will be there with originals and prints by artists from across the East Coast. Bids for the artwork open from $5 to $50.
