Virgie Mae Mason, 69, of the 700 block of Gardner St. died Oct. 20, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Franklin, she was retired. She was the widow of Charles Mason Sr. and predeceased by her father, John Rose, and brother, R.J. Rose.
Survivors include four daughters, Jean Joyner, Virginia Mason, Linda Riddick, Annette Cannady, all of Franklin; five sons, Charles T. Mason Jr., James Mason, William Mason, Donnell Mason, Michael Mason, all of Franklin; mother, Maude Rose; six sisters, Willie B. Rose, Mable Parham, Catherine Lee, Ernestine Pope, Carolyn Richardson, all of Franklin, and Marion Barnes of Suffolk; a brother, William H. Rose of Franklin; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hickory Grove A.M.E. Zion, Franklin, by Elder Thomas Ashburn. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Charles Mason, 713 Charles St. The family will greet friends at Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
