Clarence Sutton Jr., 61, of the 5600 block of Rappahannock Road, died Oct. 22, 1997.
Born in Kinston, N.C., he retired 12 years ago as a U.S. Navy master chief with 30 years of service. He was a Protestant.
Survivors include three daughters, Shermaine L. Gills, Theresa A. Sutton, Monica L. Grimes, all of Virginia Beach; five sons, Gregson L. Sutton of New York, Terence K. Sutton of Durham, N.C., Emmanuel J. Robinson, Clarence D. Sutton, James D. Sutton, all of Virginia Beach; his mother, Doris C. Sutton of Kinston, N.C.; a sister, Corah Croom of Kinston; 10 grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in New Hope Baptist Church, 395 Old Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Ray Cox. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
