Lillian Beatrice Turner, 88, known as ``Sister Washington,'' of the 100 block of Seekle St., passed quietly and gently into eternal peace Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22, 1997, at Harbour Pointe Convalescent Center.
She was a native of Princess Anne County and the daughter of Albert and Effie Spratley Washington and the widow of Melvin Turner. She was retired as a cafeteria manager for Norfolk Public Schools with several years of service at Granby Elementary. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church having served in many phases of the Life of the Church including the Stewardess Board.
She is survived by a daughter, Lillian B. Barnes; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by two goddaughters; a godson; a cousin, Blanche Butler; and a special friend, Betty Brown.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, 105 Seekle St., Norfolk, by the Rev. Joel Tomlin. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today in Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will be at the residence. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
