JAMES ROBINSON SR.

James Robinson Sr., 75, of the 2700 block of Gate House Road died on Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, at Sentara Nursing Center, Newtown Road. He was a native of Vicksburg, Miss., and was the son of the late Albertha Robinson.

Mr. Robinson retired after 22 years from the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute St., and its male usher board and the Senior Citizens Bible Study Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Robinson; three daughters, Lyndell Cowell, Brenda Robinson, Patricia Procter; a son, James ``Pop'' Robinson Jr.; a brother, Wilbert Robinson, 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 418 E. Bute St., by the Rev. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery. Viewing will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at noon Wednesday. The family will receive friends at 901 Goff St., apartment 168.
