Madison A. ``Sambo'' Epps, 79, of the 2000 block of Elm Ave., died Oct. 24, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth.
Born in Ford, Va., Mr. Epps was a custodian and driver for Bill Lewis Chevrolet for 45 years. Mr. Epps was a U.S. Army veteran and a past member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, Amelia, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Laler E. Epps; two daughters, Rosa Roney of New Jersey, Sandy Henderson of Richmond; two stepdaughters, Mary Long of Philadelphia and Josephine Smith of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mary Collins of Petersburg, Va.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
