VIRGINIA M. WORRELL

Virginia Mulcurran Worrell, 80, of the 4500 block of Winchester Drive, died Oct. 22, 1997, at Maryview Medical Center.

A long-term resident of Portsmouth, she was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church for 61 years and was a member of the Young at Heart group there. She belonged to AARP and NARFE. Mrs. Worrell was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Comptroller Department. As a member of RSVP, she volunteered at Portsmouth Public Library for 15 years. She was president of the Portsmouth Adult Leisure Club. She also participated in the Golden Olympics for 10 years, winning several medals.

She was the wife of the late Jesse J. Worrell. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia A. Worrell of Portsmouth; a son, Jesse R. Worrell of Salinas, Calif.; a grandson, Rodney Reed of Portsmouth, a great-grandson, Jeffrey Reed of Portsmouth and a great-granddaughter, Kristina Reed of Sacramento, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Western Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. George F. Mullinax. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
