WILLIAM C. BALLEW

William Chadwick Ballew, 65, of the 800 block of Earl of Chesterfield Lane, died Oct. 25, 1997.

Born in Blairsville, Ga., he was a retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander with 26 years of service. He was formerly employed with Tracor & Bendix Inc. Mr. Ballew was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Retired Officers Association, and the Virginia Beach Amateur Radio Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy ``Dolly'' Ballew; his mother, Winnie Hesketh of Blairsville; a brother, Rex Ballew of Blairsville; a niece; and three nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Monday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church by Fr. James M. Noto. Burial will be at noon Tuesday in Olive Branch Cemetery, City Park Ave., Portsmouth, where military honors will be accorded. The family will be at the church from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling arrangements.
