Katie Bell Vandegrift Miller, 87, died Oct. 26, 1997, in Chesapeake Health Care Center.

She was born July 25, 1910, in Old Norfolk County, Va., the daughter of the late Leonard K. and Ethel Culpepper Vandegrift Sr. She was predeceased by a daughter, Geneva Marie Sawyer, and a son, Carlton Grant Miller, and three brothers, Leonard K. Vandegrift Jr., Marion T. Vandegrift and Cecil K. Vandegrift. Mrs. Miller was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Eldon Lee Miller Jr. of Moyock and William P. Miller of Greenville, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Moyock Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Vic Ramsey and the Rev. Fred Bates. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Twiford Funeral Home, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, and all other times at the home of her son, Eldon L. Miller.
