Norfolk Store Robbed: On Monday, Oct. 13, just before 9:30 p.m., a man walked into the Quick Stop convenience store in the 3400 block of Sewells Point Road and went to the counter.
The man then pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. After receiving cash, the suspect fled. The robbery was recorded by a security camera.
The suspect was described as black, about 22, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He had a medium complexion and short hair; he was wearing long pants and a white sweatshirt or a long-sleeve T-shirt with writing on the left sleeve.
Portsmouth Bank Robbed: On Oct. 6, the Life Savings Bank branch in the 6200 block of Portsmouth Blvd. was robbed.
About 10:15 a.m., a man approached a teller with a note demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect fled.
The suspect was described as black, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a tan hat and what appeared to be a woman's pink, blue and white jogging jacket.
Virginia Beach Bank Robbed: On Oct. 18 at 9:30 a.m., the First Virginia Bank branch in the 1900 block of Centerville Turnpike was robbed.
The suspect loitered inside the bank for a few minutes before approaching a teller with a note demanding money. After he received money, he walked out.
The suspect was described as black, 28 to 32 years old, 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 210 pounds. He had short hair and a mustache and was wearing a baseball hat, a blue windbreaker with maroon and white stripes, baggy camouflage pants and brown work boots.
Newport News Woman Raped: On Oct. 18, about 8:20 p.m., a woman, 20, was raped at knifepoint in the area of Kingstowne Apartments.
The suspect was described as white, 27 or 28 years old, 5 feet, 9 to 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a medium build. He had short dark hair, was unshaven and had a chipped front upper tooth.
He was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark waist-length jacket. Man Robbed: On Oct. 23, a man, 80, received a call from someone claiming to be the chief of police. The caller said he was conducting an investigation involving the man's bank and needed him to assist them by withdrawing money from his account.
The victim was instructed to meet the caller in the 300 block of Main Street and turn over the money. He was told the money would be returned after the investigation had been completed.
After the transaction, the elderly man became suspicious and contacted police.
On the same day, another elderly resident received a similar call. He became suspicious and contacted the chief of police to verify the information. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
