Ethel M. Maurer, 81, of the Western Branch section died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, in her home. She was a native of Garfield, N.J.
Ethel came to know the Lord in 1939. She served Him faithfully and ministered to many throughout her lifetime, along with her husband. They took many into their home, among them Evangelist Morris Cerullo. She cared for all those whom God sent her way. She is with the Lord, whom she loved.
Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Maurer; her daughter, the Rev. Evelyn Ann Puckett, pastor of Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church, Norfolk, and her husband, Gerald, of Chesapeake; a son, the Rev. Edward L. Maurer of New York; three grandchildren, Susan Puckett, Bryan Puckett and Timothy Maurer; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Maurer and Darren Diggs.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Colonial United Methodist Church, 1420 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, or to Maranatha Ministries, c/o the church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
