CHARLIE H. TROTMAN SR.

Charlie Haywood Trotman Sr. of the 800 block of Railroad Ave. died Oct. 25, 1997 of natural causes in his home.

Born in Nansemond County, Va., he had been retired for 16 years from Union Camp Corp. after 35 years of service. Mr. Trotman was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a former Deacon Board chairman, a member of the Senior Usher Board, Men's Fellowship, Official Board, Finance Board, Adult Church School Class, and Men's Fellowship Choir. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Franklin Star No. 288.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Virginia D. Trotman; sons, Charlie Haywood Trotman Jr. of Petersburg, Va., and Alvin M. Trotman of Franklin; sisters, Bertha T. Hodges of Franklin; grandchildren, Captain Bonita Artis of Alexandria, Va., Lotita Trotman-Leach and Carmalita Trotman of Petersburg; and two great-grandsons.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church, Franklin, by the Rev. Henry Blunt. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
