ROBBERS SHOOT EMPLOYEE AT CHESAPEAKE PIZZERIA

Two robbers broke through the rear door of a pizza store on Bainbridge Boulevard and shot an employee Tuesday night, police said.

The men escaped with money and haven't been caught. The employee, who was shot in the leg, was taken to Chesapeake General Hospital.

Police said the injury wasn't life-threatening.

A police spokeswoman said the two robbers kicked in the back door of Ray's Pizza and Pasta in the 4200 block of Bainbridge Blvd. around 9 p.m. Once inside, they shoved two employees to the floor, police said.

After the shooting, the robbers took money and fled.

This is at least the second pizza-store robbery and shooting this year in that area. In July, a Chanello's pizza delivery driver was charged with robbing and shooting two fellow workers in the 3700 block of Bainbridge Blvd.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crimeline at 487-1234. KEYWORDS: PIZZA ROBBERY SHOOTING
