2 WOMEN HIT BY GUNSHOTS FIRED INTO WESTERN BRANCH TOWNHOUSE

Two women were wounded Wednesday night by gunshots fired through the rear patio door of their Western Branch townhouse, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. at one of the Silverwood townhouses in the 4400 block of Dartmoor Court, according to Jody Armentrout, a spokeswoman for Chesapeake police.

The women were identified as Deanna Russell, 29, and Amy Long, 26, Armentrout said. One of the victims was struck in the back and the other in the leg when multiple gunshots were fired.

Long remained in Norfolk Sentara General Hospital Thursday night listed in stable condition, according to a hospital spokesman. Russell was treated and released from Norfolk Sentara Thursday afternoon, the hospital spokesman said. KEYWORDS: SHOOTING
