NETTIE L. COBB

Nettie Louise Cobb, 70, of the 2900 block of St. Mihiel Ave. died Oct. 29, 1997, in Norfolk Health Care.

Born in Wayne County, N.C., she was a homemaker and the widow of Robert Cobb Jr. who died in 1996. Mrs. Cobb was an active member of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, where she participated in the Women's Bible Study, Fannie Cypress Missionary Circle, Women's Missionary Union and Women's Sunday School Bible Class. She was a lifetime member of the N.A.A.C.P. and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Survivors include daughter, Olivia L. Cobb Covington and foster-daughter, Theresa A. Fletcher, both of Norfolk; foster-son, Robert (Shortman) Fletcher Jr. of Norfolk; two sisters, Mandy Lloyd of Tarboro, N.C., and Bertha Walton of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Sherry Fletcher Freeman of Germany, Vanessa Covington and the Rev. Richard M. Covington Jr., both of Norfolk; five great-grandchildren, Cheree Covington of Norfolk, Terence Fletcher and Treseaure Fletcher, both of Virginia Beach, Crystal and Kevin Freeman, both of Germany; son-in-law, Richard M. Covington Sr. of Norfolk; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ellen Mills Parker and Jessie J. Parker.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Second Calvary Baptist Church, Corprew Ave., Norfolk, by Dr. Geoffrey V. Guns. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, is in charge of arrangements. The body will be placed in the church Tuesday at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 2914 St. Mihiel Ave., Norfolk, at 11 a.m. Tuesday for the procession to the church.
