HAMPTON ROADS

THOMASSON DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT: Ednearl Thomasson was appointed director of development for Nancy Chandler Associates Inc., Realtors. One of her first tasks will be to coordinate staff recruitment and business development for the company's new location scheduled to open in early 1998 on Cedar Road in Chesapeake. Thomasson works in the Norfolk and Chesapeake offices.

NORFOLK

DOHERTY OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTING EDUCATOR: The Tidewater chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants named Patricia M. Doherty the chapter's 1997 Outstanding Accounting Educator. Doherty is an instructor in the accounting department at Old Dominion University.

JOB SHIFTS AT ACCOUNTING FIRM: Stewart N. Grant was named tax manager at Edmondson, LedBetter & Ballard. He was previously with Zukerman & Associates in Virginia Beach. Russell E. Cook and Miriam F. Connors-McCarns have joined the auditing and accounting staff. Cook is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Connors-McCarns was formerly with Vacation Sales in Virginia Beach. Joy Bixler was promoted to audit manager and Rachael Feigenbaum to audit supervisor.

VIRGINIA BEACH

PERKINS NAMED ASSOCIATE: Christopher L. Perkins was named an associate at Pender & Coward law firm. He will concentrate in civil litigation, workers' compensation and social security benefits. He is a 1997 graduate of the T.C. Williams School of Law.

MORRIS NAMED PRINCIPAL OF SCHOOLS: Virginia Bailey Morris was named principal of Virginia Beach Country Day School and Linlier Preschool. Before joining the two private schools, Morris was the director for the MOC Learning Center in Massachusetts.

WOLCOTT WINS REALTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD: Barbara Wolcott, broker at Prudential Decker Realty, won the Realtor of the Year Award for 1997 from the Virginia Association of Realtors. She has been with Prudential since 1982 and in the real estate industry for 27 years.

HAMPTON

SALSBERRY AND WILLIAMS JOIN ACCOUNTING FIRM: Lisa B. Salsberry has rejoined Eason, Lawson & Westphal's accounting staff as a supervisor. She worked for the company several years before moving to Pennsylvania where she worked for Shaffer & Associates. Meredith L. Williams has joined the firm's accounting staff. She was previously employed by Holiday Inn as their accounting manager.

NEWPORT NEWS

SLAUGHTER WINS AWARD: Thomas M. Slaughter, assistant director of engineering/transportation for the City of Newport News, received the Crozet Award from the Virginia Society of Professional Engineers. The award is given annually to recognize a Virginia state or local government professional engineer who has exhibited outstanding leadership in technical and non-technical fields as well as public service.
