MELVIN CARLISLE

Melvin Carlisle, 73, of the 4200 block of Bainbridge Blvd., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at Chesapeake Healthcare Center.

He was born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., July 30, 1924, the son of the late Jordon and Annie Holloman Carlisle. He was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a mechanic. He was a Baptist and a member of the South Norfolk Moose Lodge. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Carlisle is survived by his wife, Nora A. Carlisle; a daughter, Cynthia Harrison of Chesapeake; three sons, Robert Carlisle, Eddie Carlisle and Steve Carlisle, all of Chesapeake; three sisters; a brother; and three grandchildren, Jason Mathew Carlisle, Christian J. and William David Harrison, all of Chesapeake.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Twiford Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
