THOMAS T. ALLAN

Thomas Thompson Allan, 83, of the 2800 block of Acres Road died Nov. 1, 1997, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Allan was born in Seekonk, Mass., and had retired as national sales manager from Virginia Chemicals after 26 years. He was a member of Green Acres Presbyterian Church and former member of United Church of Christ in Walpole, Mass., and the Barrington, R.I., Congregational Church. He was a member of Portsmouth Kiwanis Club; in the 1950s he was chairman of the school board in Walpole, Mass. He was a member of Chemist Club in New York, East Bay Chorus and the Barrington, R.I., Preservation Society, and was active in the American Red Cross. He graduated from Brown University with a B.S. degree in chemistry in 1937.

Survivors include his wife, Olive G. Allan; a daughter, Judith Mitchel of Reading, Mass.; two sons, Thomas T. Allan III of Suffolk and Geoffrey K. Allan of Edgartown, Mass.; a sister, Grace Richardson of Riverside, R.I.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Green Acres Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Walter C. Hunting. Burial will be in the family plot in Rehoboth, Mass., at a later date. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Green Acres Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
