Edward Orton, 67, of the 4400 block of Newport Ave. died Nov. 5, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Detroit, Mich., Mr. Orton retired as a chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy after 20 years and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He had also worked in civil service for the Naval Air Rework Facility.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Orton; four daughters, Deborah Daniel of Kissimmee, Fla., Sharon Holcomb of Norfolk, Julia Bo of Redmond, Wash., and Stephanie Hester of Norfolk; four sons, Michael Orton and Matthew Orton, both of Norfolk, John Orton of Kent, Wash., and Charles Orton of Gatesville, N.C.; parents, Amos John and Julia Anna Orton of Shallotte, N.C.; a sister, Helen McCabe of Warren, Mich.; a brother, John Orton of Shallotte; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Azalea Garden Church of God by Pastor Aubrey Maye. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
