GREENBRIER CHRISTIAN REACHES PLAYOFF SEMIS.

The Gators scored on all three of their third-quarter possessions and also scored on a 29-yard interception return to break open the quarterfinal game of the Division I Independent Schools playoffs. The Celtics (5-6) were held to just two touchdowns in the second half and only had the ball once in Greenbrier territory after intermission. Greenbrier (6-5), winner of six straight, plays at top-seeded Fuqua in the semifinals Friday night.

The big play: The Gators stopped Roanoke's Matt Peck on 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line in the second quarter to preserve a 14-0 lead.

Notable individual stats: RC - Tony Reed 19-147 rushing. GC - Lance Wright 8-106 rushing; Alan Driskell 5-10-188 passing; Doug Keiper 64 punt return.

Quote: ``The goal-line stand made a big impact on our mental and emotional state,'' Greenbrier coach Tommy Lewis said.
