CONVICTED VETERANS DENIED BURIAL BENEFITS UNDER BILL

Veterans sentenced to death or life in prison for capital crimes could not be buried or memorialized in federal cemeteries under a bill the Senate passed Monday and sent to the White House.

The measure was Congress' response to the conviction of Timothy McVeigh, the Persian Gulf War veteran who was sentenced to death for bombing an Oklahoma City federal building in 1995, killing 168 people.
