CATHARINA M. RENGERS

Baroness Catharina Maria van Welderen Rengers, 93, of the 7500 block of Hampton Blvd. died Nov. 10, 1997, in her home.

She was the widow of Willem Carel Gerard van Welderen Baron Rengers. Baroness Rengers was born on June 22, 1904 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

During the Second World War, she was active in the resistance effort in German-occupied Holland. After the war, she was prominent in the fashion world. In 1952 the family relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and later to Portsmouth and Norfolk.

Baroness Rengers is survived by a daughter, Pia Petronella Adriana Elske van Welderen Baroness Rengers Parker of Norfolk; a son, Willem C.G. Baron Rengers Jr. of Oakville, Onatario, Canada; three granddaughters, Catharine Rengers Walsh of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Kedron Adriana Parker of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elske Caroline Marie Parker of Norfolk; a grandson, John M. Parker of Norfolk; two great-grandchildren, William Harrison Parker and Elske Adriana Parker, both of Norfolk.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Graydon Ave., with the Rev. Charles Joy officiating.

The family will receive friends, following the service, at 928 Graydon Ave., Norfolk. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of one's choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
