George Hannas, 65, of the 900 block of Willis St., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997.
Mr. Hannas was a native of Binghamton, N.Y., and was a retired lab technician for General Electric. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He was active in several VFW posts. Mr. Hannas was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Herrick Hannas and was predeceased by his wife, Grace Gongaware Hannas.
Surviving are three sons, Doug Hannas of Bristoville, Ohio, Ken Hannas of Chesapeake and Roger Hannas of Virginia Beach; three stepdaughters, P.J. Krofta and Tamara Young, both of Opalousas, La., and Tracy Miano of Cleveland, Ohio; three stepsons, Mike Miano of East Lake, Ohio, Tim Miano of Wickliff, Ohio, and Jay Miano of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Kathy Kocik of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Beverly Baton of East Lansing, Mich.; two brothers, Walter Hannas of Titusville, N.J., and and Bill Hannas of Binghamton; seven grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in Temple Baptist Church, 1322 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, by the Rev. Allen Dooley. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
