Saleem Bardaweel, 37, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, in his home. His body is being returned to Beirut, Lebanon, for Christian burial.
Saleem was born in Beirut and came to the United States in 1978 to study engineering at Old Dominion University. He was in the restaurant business for most of his working life. Most recently, he owned and operated Reasons Restaurant in Norfolk. He became a U.S. citizen last year. His family and friends will miss his zest for living, his great good humor, and his outsized heart.
He is survived by his wife, Georgette Abdelnour Bardaweel; his mother, Asma Bardaweel; and sisters, Elham, Mary, Noha and Mona, all of Lebanon; a first cousin, Kal Habr, of Virginia Beach; an aunt, Leila Rabi and her husband, Mike Rabi, and three nieces, all of Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saleem Bardaweel Memorial Fund in care of Leila Rabi, 3776 Summer Place Court, Virginia Beach, Va. 23456.
Mr. Bardaweel will be remembered during the Divine Liturgy service at 10 a.m. Sunday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Virginia Beach, 621 First Colonial Road.
