LOUISE E. DRUM

Louise Edwards Drum, 83, formerly of Vick Street went to be with the Lord Nov. 13, 1997.

She was born in Sherrills Ford, N.C., and was preceded in death by her parents, Guy A. and Essie Mae Edwards, and her brothers, Clinton and A. Leon Edwards.

She retired from the Portsmouth YMCA and was a member of the Alliance Church, Portsmouth, where she was a former pianist, choir member, deaconess and teacher of the Joy Class for many years. She held various offices in the Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship of the church. She also served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the former Christian Servicemen's Center for many years.

Survivors include her three daughters, Patricia and her husband, James Earl Hutchens Sr., Betty and her husband, Michael L. Spizzirri of Chesapeake, and Donna and her husband, Dennis L. McCrackin of Little Rock, Ark.; her brother, Rupert Edwards of Newton, N.C.; grandchildren, Jim and Bryon Hutchens, Tim Spizzirri, Patrick and Jodi McCrackin; great-grandchildren, Tyler Ann and Tanner Michael Spizzirri.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Alliance Church, Portsmouth Blvd., by the Revs. Andrew V. Berkner, Earl W. Freeland, W. Keith McKnight and Frank Carter. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, and at other times, 3503 Mimosa Court, Chesapeake.
