DOROTHY D. WILLIAMS

Dorothy Diggs Williams, 76, of the 2400 block of Cutherell St. died Nov. 10, 1997, in Maryview Nursing Care Center, Suffolk.

Born in Portsmouth, she was the widow of Walter Williams. She was a retired self-employed cosmetologist and beauty salon owner and operator in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Portsmouth, a member of Dorcas Lydia Lawrence Sunday School Class and volunteer for the Drop-In Center at Zion for the Homeless.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy E. Mack of Philadelphia; five sisters, Olivia D. Robinson of Willow Grove, Pa., Ellen D. Vaughan of Chesapeake, Ann D. Stancil, Vessie D. Taylor and Ruth D. Boone, all of Portsmouth; two brothers, the Rev. Edward L. Diggs of Virginia Beach and George Pernell Diggs of Yeadon, Pa.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Zion Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. John M. Little. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday. The family will be at the home of her sister, Ann D. Stancil, 3201 Clover Hill Drive, Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the procession to the church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
