CENIT BANK AND PORTSMOUTH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP RECEIVE AWARD: Cenit Bank and the Portsmouth Community Development Group have received a Partnership in Excellence award from the Federal Home Loan Bank in recognition of their community development projects in Portsmouth. The Portsmouth Community Development Group received a $5,000 award for excellence in the delivery of affordable housing and economic development programs. Winners were selected based on the partnership's efforts to provide affordable housing in low- to moderate-income communities in the past year and recognition of the impact on the community in which it operates.
NORFOLK
WRENN NAMED AAA CHAIRMAN: AAA of Tidewater named Robert C. ``Bobby'' Wrenn chairman of the board of directors. He has served on AAA's board since 1973. The following directors were elected to serve a three-year term: Robert G. Bagley, senior vice president and director of the Bank of Hampton Roads; Edward Brickell, president of the Medical College of Hampton Roads; Glenn R. Croshaw, who has served on many House of Delegates Committees; Joel S. Sheppard Jr., president and owner of Joel S. Sheppard Inc.; George E. ``Dick'' Tyson Jr., director of athletics and driver education for Newport News Public Schools; and Harrison B. Wilson, former president of Norfolk State University.
LEAFE CERTIFIED AS MEDIATOR: Joseph A. Leafe, a senior member of Willcox & Savage, has received certification by the Virginia Supreme Court as a mediator. Mediators may receive referrals from the court and may serve as mediators in private proceedings.

NEW TAX AND ACCOUNTING SERVICE FIRM OPENS: Susan L. Creamer, a certified public accountant, has opened an office at 6095 Indian River Road, Suite 200. She will assist individuals and businesses in filing tax returns, bookkeeping, financial planning and other accounting services. Lucy Bulloch is the office manager and head bookkeeper for the offfice.

NEW BANK PLANNED FOR CHARLOTTESVILLE: Investors in Charlottesville plan to apply for a national charter in December to set up a bank to be tentatively named Virginia National Bank. Most of the proposed bank's capital, up to $12.5 million, has been raised, said Reid Nagle, one of three organizing founders. Nagle is president and publisher of SNL Securities, a financial research company. Other founders are C. Wilson McNeely, president of Eagle Corp., and Hunter E. Craig, president of Virginia Lube Inc. Nagle said the bank is intended to be the leading local bank in Charlottesville, taking the place of Jefferson National Bank, which became part of Wachovia Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C., on Nov. 1.
RICHFOOD DECLARES DIVIDEND: The board of directors of Richfood Holdings Inc. declared a cash dividend on its outstanding common stock for the second quarter of fiscal 1998. A cash dividend of 4 cents per share will be payable on or about Dec. 31, 1997, to shareholders of record on Dec. 15, 1997. Richfood Holdings Inc., headquartered in Richmond, is the largest wholesale food distributor in the Mid-Atlantic region and has announced its acquisition of Farm Fresh Inc., a supermarket chain headquartered in Norfolk.
