Three Los Angeles men involved in a Jamaican-led drug ring that shipped thousands of pounds of marijuana to the East Coast were convicted on federal drug and money laundering charges.
The jury of nine men and three women deliberated nearly two full days before finding Junior Anthony Simms, 31, Denever Livingston, 32, and Roger Stewart, 54, guilty Thursday of multiple offenses.
Newport News real estate broker Richard W. Teagle Sr., accused of providing the ring with rental houses to store the marijuana, had been on trial with the men until he was hospitalized during the second week of the trial. A mistrial was declared in his case, and a new trial date has not been set.
Simms, Livingston and Stewart will be sentenced Feb. 20. KEYWORDS: DRUGS ILLEGAL CONVICTION MONEY LAUNDERING
