HAMPTON COUPLE, TOT KILLED IN PHILA. CRASH

A Hampton, Va., couple and their year-old baby died in a car wreck Friday morning after the driver lost control of their car and hit two telephone poles, police said.

The car split in two after hitting the first pole, and the baby was thrown out of the car, police said.

The adults were pronounced dead at the scene. The baby was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and later died, police said. The husband was driving about 6 a.m. in West Philadelphia. Wet roads and speeding contributed to the accident, authorities said.

The victims' identities were withheld until relatives could be notified. The couple were in their 20s.
