MELVIN JONES

Melvin Jones, 55, of Freedom Court, died Nov. 11, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center. He was a Portsmouth native.

Survivors include a son and daughter of Henderson, N.C.; four sisters, Gladys E. Stewart, Gloria Y. Jones, J. Catherine Evens, Patricia A. Moore, all of Portsmouth; three brothers, Robert L. Jones Sr. of Chesapeake, the Rev. Jerman W. Jones of Richmond, Lawrence E. Jones of Portsmouth; a grandchild; an aunt, Ruby Cole of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Jerman W. Jones. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at noon Monday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. The family and friends will assemble at the home of his sister, Gladys E. Stewart, 7 Freedom Court, Portsmouth for the procession to the funeral home chapel. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
