CATHERINE RUANE PREISS

Catherine Ruane Preiss, 81, of the 400 block of Duplin St., resigned from herbrave battle with cancer on Monday, and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday,Nov. 16, 1997.

Mrs. Preiss was a native of Glasgow, Scotland, and was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Lester J. Preiss, Captain, Jersey City, N.J. Fire Department. She was dedicated to the issues in her community and demonstrated her support through her involvement in various organizations including Princess Anne Plaza Civic League, Princess Anne Garden Club and AARP. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Jersey City, N.J.

Survivors include four loving children, Mrs. Joyce C. Harrison and husband, William, of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Carole Salak and husband, William, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Ms. Shirley Palermo of Hudson, Fla. and Gerard Preiss of Virginia Beach. She is survived by her sister, Ms. Margaret Ruane of Jersey City. She was a grandmother to 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She left behind many kind friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends between 6 and 9 p.m. Tuesday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Equi-Kids, Eric Lincoln Fund, or the American Cancer Society. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
