Hubert Dean Garland, 71, known as Garland, of the 3800 block of E. Princess Anne Road died Nov. 14, 1997, in a local hospital.
He was born March 2, 1926, to William C. Garland Sr. and Minnie Alexander Garland in Bogue, Kansas. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1963, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Garland also retired from the civil service. He was a member of VFW Post No. 1076, Norfolk.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald S. Garland and Chester A. Garland of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Leota Buford and Harriet Waters of Kansas City, Kansas; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Hale Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Damon E. Hodge. Burial will be in Virginia Veteran Cemetery, Amelia, Va. Family and friends will assemble at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
