Doris E. Atkins, 53, of the 1000 block of Naval Ave. died Nov. 15, 1997, in her home.
She was a Portsmouth native and a member of New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth. She was the widow of Sidney T. Atkins.
Survivors include three daughters, Vera Santiago, Lenora Glover and Katrina Atkins, all of Portsmouth; a son, Javon Atkins of Portsmouth; mother, Vera Whitehead of Portsmouth; three brothers, James Whitehead of Boston, Mass., Charles Whitehead of Orlando, Fla., Anthony Whitehead of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren; three aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. M.L. Blount. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
