MARY T. CAHOON

Mary Josephine Turrisi Cahoon, 91, died Nov. 18, 1997, in a Norfolk health care facility.

The widow of Horace J. Cahoon of Columbia, N.C., she was the daughter of Mary and Frank Turrisi. Born in Mamaroneck, N.Y., she lived most of her life in Norfolk. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Charles Turrisi. Mrs. Cahoon is survived by her son and his wife, James and Mary Elizabeth ``Betsy'' Cahoon of Norfolk; her grandchildren, Kathleen, who is studying in Marburg, Germany, and James F. Jr. of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Pearly Turrisi; nieces, nephews and their children.

Mrs. Cahoon was a member of Blessed Sacrament and Christ the King Catholic churches. She had been active in the Roma Lodge, The Sunshine Club, and a charter member of the Christ Child Society. An avid bridge player, she formerly belonged to the Lafayette Club, the Norfolk Senior Center and the 60-Plus Club.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Christ the King Church by Fr. Brian Rafferty. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. Memorial donations may be to the Arthritis Foundation or a charity of choice. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
