Lewis Harmon, 61, of 3872 William Penn Blvd., died Nov. 20, 1997.
Lewis was born in Tsingtao, China, baptized Sergei Kisaloff Harmon and was the son of Vera and Lewis Harmon Sr. Lewis retired after 22 years in the USN, RMC. Receiving his teaching degree at Old Dominion University, Lewis taught at Indian Lakes Elementary, Landstown Middle and most recently, Bettie F. Williams, where he taught fifth grade. He was twice honored as teacher of the year. Lewis was a volunteer with Edmarc Hospice Santa Group. Lewis was the parish coordinator at Immaculate Conception Mission.
Survivors include Nancy Harmon, loving wife and companion; and devoted children, sons, Robert and Charles and daughters, Jennifer and Lara; and daughter-in-law, Tracy Harmon, all of Virginia Beach.
Lewis devoted his life to God, family and teaching. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, at which time the family will receive friends. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home by Father Joseph Terry Marks. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Princess Anne Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Mission's Building Fund, c/o Mr. Frank Nabbefeld, 3925 W. Colonial Parkway, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.
