CONFRONTATION LEADS TO SHOOTING OF TWO TEENS

Two teen-agers were shot at West Peachtree Lane and Augustine Circle in Churchland about 7 p.m. Thursday, police said Friday.

The victims, 19 and 17 years old, were treated at a hospital and released - one for wounds to an arm and leg, the other for a leg wound, police spokeswoman Amber Whittaker said.

According to Whittaker, apparently there was an altercation earlier between the victims and two individuals outside the Food Lion on Twin Pines Road.

The victims left on foot and were followed. The altercation continued, then shots were fired.

The suspects were believed to be driving either a royal blue Geo Metro or a Chevrolet Sprint.

They were described as black males in their 20s, both about 5 feet 5 inches tall. One was about 200 pounds, wearing a dark sweat shirt; the other was about 150 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Portsmouth Crime Line at 488-7777. KEYWORDS: SHOOTING
