Fair numbers of jumbo bluefish were landed on cut bait from the end of Outer Banks Pier during the morning.

Lots of half-to 3/4-pound croakers and small blues were decked on Outer Banks Pier later in the day, along with keeper gray trout and a few sea mullet.

Fishing was slow on Jennette's Pier.

Nags Head Pier reported a few small bluefish, small spot and throwback puppy drum landed.

Fishing was unusually slow on both Avalon and Kitty Hawk piers throughout the day.

On Hatteras Island, fishermen on Rodanthe Pier caught a few small blues, trout and puppy drum.

A few speckled trout were landed on Avon Pier.

A 2 1/4-pound flounder, a dogfish and lots of skates were taken from Frisco Pier.

Surf fishermen landed speckled trout weighing between 2 and 4-pounds north of Nags Head Pier during the early afternoon.

Additionally, small blues, scattered small puppy drum and an occasional striper were caught by surfcasters along the northern beaches throughout the day.

A few speckled trout were taken north of Rodanthe Pier, and small bluefish were hauled in along the beach from Rodanthe to Buxton.

Speckled trout action was fairly good in the area around Avon Pier and in the surf near the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. A few stripers were beached at Cape Point.

Little action was reported from Frisco to Hatteras Inlet.

Good numbers of bluefish and some scattered stripers were taken by anglers trolling outside Oregon Inlet. Blue water charters off Oregon Inlet caught fair numbers of yellowfin tuna.

King mackerel action was good off Hatteras around the wrecks. Fifteen to 25- pound blackfin tuna were plentiful and a few yellowfins also were landed.

The water temperature was 54 degrees Friday at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck, and 61 degrees at Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island.
