EDWARD M. JAMES

Edward Milton ``Mickey'' James, 77, of the 4700 block of Fairway Ave., died Nov. 21, 1997, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Crewe, Va., the son of the late William Reginald and Bessie Parham James. He moved to Virginia Beach in December 1951. He was a retired pharmacist for K-Mart Stores. He was a pharmacist for more than 40 years in this area. Mr. James was a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, class of June 7, 1949. He was a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, first lieutenant, 404 Fighter Group, 508 Fighter Squadron, 9th Air Force. He was a member of Scott Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Carol Middlebrook.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley James, of the home; two daughters, Roberta C. Dick of Memphis, Tenn., and Deborah Lynn Fair of Daytona Beach, Fla.; three sons, Michael N. James, Thomas W. James and John Oatman, all of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Beverly James of Richmond and William R. James of Durham, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Scott Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. James C. Ullian. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513. Cremation Society of Virginia, Tidewater Office, is handling arrangements.
