Vernon Allen Briley, 59, died Friday Nov. 21, 1997.

Mr. Briley, a native of Parmele, N.C., was an equipment specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense, Norfolk Naval Air Station. Mr. Briley was a member of Benn's United Methodist Church, the Masons, The Scottish Rites and the Khedive Temple.

Surviviors include his wife, Mary Frances Hardison Briley, and daughter and son-in-law, Heather Leigh and George Stewart Greer of Battery Park, Va.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday in Benn's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Fred Breeden. The family will receive friends following the service in the church's Family Life Center and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431 or the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, 15020 Carrollton Blvd., Carrollton, Va. 23314. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, will handle the arrangements.
