James A. Slaughter, 71, of the 3200 block of Downes St., died Nov. 23, 1997, at his home.
A native of Portsmouth, he retired as a truck driver from Jacobson Metals after 15 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Eula B. Slaughter; a daughter, Karen D. Woods of Norfolk; three sons, Carlton A. Slaughter of Portsmouth, Kevin R. Slaughter of Woodbridge, Va., Ken L. Slaughter of Philadelphia, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. James Wynn. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, with military honors. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
