IRIS V. HATTON

Iris Vincent Hatton, 81, of the 200 block of W. Constance Road and formerly of Ahoskie, N.C., died Nov. 27, 1997.

A native of Pitt County, N.C., she was a homemaker and the widow of Edgar Ruffin Hatton Sr. She was a longtime member of Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and a former president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Hatton was the daughter of the late Samuel Jones Vincent and Rebecca Stocks Vincent. She was also predeceased by a son, Edgar Ruffin Hatton Jr.

Survivors include her daughters, Joann Hatton Caffee of Chesapeake and Sue Hatton Spring of Suffolk; brothers, Samuel J. Vincent of Sparta, N.C., William D. Vincent of Newport Beach, Calif. and Gene A. Vincent of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, at 4 p.m. Friends may join the family in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at 4048 Sadler Drive, home of Sue Spring.
