VACANCIES: LECTURER AND JUNIOR LECTURER

Applications are invited for a lectureship (fixed period or permanent) and a junior lectureship (fixed period for 12 or 18 months), both tenable from 1 July 1995 or as soon as possible thereafter. For both posts, but particularly for the lectureship, preference is likely to be given to an applicant who has special interests in ancient history.

DUTIES: Appointees will be required to teach both in language courses and in the Department's Classical Civilisation sequence.

QUALIFICATIONS: Lectureship applicants should ordinarily have completed, or be on the point of completing, a Ph.D. A high level of competence in both Greek and Latin is essential. Junior Lectureship applicants should have at least a good Honours degree, and a serious interest in pursuing an academic career. A high level of competence in at least one of the ancient languages is essential.
