We are indebted to Mr. Douglas Gibb-Edlich of Seattle, Washington, for the cover picture showing plants of R. macrophyllum on Mt. Jupiter in the Olympics. "The Brothers" peaks show in the background. The plants were growing at an altitude of approximately 5,000 feet. An inquiry to Mr. Gibb-Edlich brings the information that Mt. Jupiter is the closest peak to Hood Canal, located between the lower Dosewallips and Duckabush Rivers. The road to Mt. Jupiter leaves U.S. Highway 101 about two miles south of Brinnon. From the end of this road a seven mile trail leads to the summit lookout. Coming from the south one has to turn west about one-third mile north of the Duckabush River. The height of Mt. Jupiter is 5,701 feet and recommended time for ascent is six to eight hours.
