QBARS - v2n1 Seed Planting
Seed Planting
Members of the Society that have rhododendron seeds to plant are reminded that the months of January and February are most satisfactory if bottom heat is to be used. Seeds planted in later months do not germinate well and usually are too small to withstand the following Winter. Fresh seed planted last April and almost ready to germinate was caught in an unseasonable hot spell that sent the temperatures into the eighties. All the seed seemed to resent the heat and refused to sprout, and most of them subsequently lost.
