JARS v46n2 - Convention Reminder: Long Island '92
Convention Reminder: Long Island '92
Planting Fields Arboretum |
There is still time to register for the Annual Convention! Interesting talks, tours of many lovely gardens, and a chance to meet and talk to fellow rhododendron enthusiasts should tempt all ARS members to join us in Melville, Long Island, New York, May 13-17. Our speakers will include Dr. Marc Cathey ("Treasures of the National Arboretum"), John Basford ("Plants of the World in a Scottish Garden") and Barry Yinger ("From Sorak to Yakushima"). A fascinating set of daytime talks includes such diverse things as "Rhododendron Gardens in Germany" and "The Four Season Garden". Naturally, a Hybridizers' Roundtable, too. There will also be a Super Plant Sale, with some new plants you will certainly want to have in your own garden - a glorious Kaempferi azalea, 'Pride-of-Planting-Fields', a double white rhododendron 'Long Island', and many others. A Flower Show? Of course! A photo contest? Yes! And the dinners we have planned for you will be delicious. So, how can you resist? If you do not have your winter issue of the Journal, or are a brand new member, we will be glad to send you a copy of the registration forms, with descriptions of all the activities. Those who register after April 13 must pay $10 additional, but that is a small penalty; you will enjoy the Convention, and we will welcome you to our surprising Long Island. Write to Jane or Wally McKay, Kings Park, N.Y. Plan to join us, for the Convention, Long Island '92.
